About the Author
John F. McDonald, Ph.D., is an Emeritus Professor of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Founding Director of Georgia Tech’s Integrated Cancer Research Center. He was the Chief Scientist at Atlanta’s Ovarian Cancer Center from 1999 to 2023. Dr. McDonald conducted post-doctoral training at the University of California, San Diego, and the Cancer Research Institute at Columbia University in New York. He was the Head of the University of Georgia’s Genetics Department from 1998 to 2004. McDonald was the Chair of Georgia Tech’s School of Biological Sciences from 2004 to 2009 and Associate Dean for Biology Program Development in Georgia Tech’s College of Sciences from 2009 until 2014.
Dr. McDonald has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers and edited three books. He is formed Editor-in-Chief of Genetica- the International Journal of Genetics and co-author of the genetics textbook The Science of Genetics.
