Pat Engebrecht is a woman of many talents and accomplishments. Growing up on a farm in the foothills of the Cascades in Oregon, Pat had a passion for writing from a young age. However, it wasn’t until she was challenged by an English professor who deemed her work some of the worst he had read that Pat began to take her writing seriously.
Determined to prove herself, Pat wrote her first book, “Under The Haystack,” which was nominated for the Newbery Award and received positive reviews in the New York Times and Kirkus. The book even caught the attention of a Canadian film company, who optioned the rights to the story with Jodi Foster set to play the lead. Unfortunately, the option was not exercised, but the experience encouraged Pat to continue writing.
Pat’s writing career was put on hold when she established her own construction firm, L&L Developers, creating one of the first women-owned construction firms in Rochester, New York. In addition to her construction business, Pat also taught tennis and platform tennis, sharing her passion for sports with others.

When she’s not writing, Pat spends time with her family and engages in gardening. She currently splits her time between Bradenton, Florida, during the winter and Canandaigua Lake in New York during the rest of the year.
